What type of music does Vineyard Church have?
We play contemporary Christian worship music from artists such as Vineyard Music International, David Crowder Band, Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, Delirious, Third Day, Watermark, Charlie Hall, Passion Worship, and more.
What type of artistic atmosphere does the church have?
Vineyard Church has a high value for the performing and creative arts, including music, dance, visual art, video, and more. Our stage is large and elevated, and lit by professional theatrical lighting fixtures. Our worship music is sometimes considered “loud.” We have performed special productions including musicals, dramas, choirs, dances, and more around the holidays.
Some of the elements we value, such as dance and video, you won’t see every week, or even as much as we’d like to see it. We are waiting for skilled people like you to fill or lead those expressions. The more creative artists we find, the more expressions of art you’ll see at our services and special events!
Do you hold auditions? What are they like?
Auditions are held for any type of performer, such as singers, musicians, dancers, and actors. Worship team auditions for musicians and vocalists consist of the auditionee playing/singing a song of their choice with the band at a special rehearsal. The band has monthly rehearsals to facilitate this.
Performing auditions for special events (dancers, actors, choir members, etc.) are held on an as-need basis prior to a production.
Non-performing roles such as technicians, writers, directors, or choreographers, require an interview with our Creative Director.
Is there training available to become a behind-the-scenes technician?
Audio, lighting, power point, video, and other technical team members do not have to be pre-trained to join a team. While skilled, trained team members are always eagerly welcomed, training is available for these areas.
Is it necessary to be a member of the Vineyard Church of San Antonio to serve on the worship, technical, or creative teams?
To serve on a regular team, membership of the church is a requirement. Membership is completed through our quarterly Vineyard Basics class.
To participate in a one-time special event, membership is not required, although the other requirements below still apply.
Are there any other requirements to participate in the worship, technical, or creative teams?
Yes, they are as follows.
Community Group Attendance
All worship, creative, and technical team members who are part of a regular team (ie. not a special event team) are required to attend one of our Community Groups weekly. This is to provide the care, accountability, and support each person needs.
Availability
All teams require commitment. The frequency, duration, and length of time involved in the commitment varies depending on the team’s function.
Skill
A certain level of skill is required for different teams. What is necessary will vary depending on the task being performed.
Teachability
A teachable spirit is one of the greatest character traits of a mature person and Christian. All team members should be actively growing in character, relationship with God, and in the skill they are expressing or serving with. Personal growth requires the input and support of those around us, especially those in leadership over us, and a teachable attitude is necessary for this to be effective.
Church Leadership Support
If a creative team member has minor theological or other differences with the church leadership, we can usually still function as a team. However, love, support, and unity with church leadership and the core values of our church are vital to a productive creative team.
